Companies that quote 'cheap' driveways skimp on the fundamentals.

Excavation must be deep enough to reach solid ground. Quality selected hardcore aggregates must be laid and be fully compacted.

Provision for adequate drainage must be made. In some instances a 'soakaway' must be constructed to meet local drainage regulations.

Finally, good quality paving blocks or tarmacadam ('tarmac') should be laid to the correct thickness and be well compacted.
